Initial Oral Exam & X-Rays
Addressing Problem Areas
First, Dr. Bob and Dr. Suzanne will discuss your dental history with you, based on information about your dental records and health records that you’ll fill out before your consultation. This helps him learn more about the last time you saw a dentist, if you’ve had dental work like fillings and crowns, and other helpful details.
Then, Dr. Bob and Dr. Suzanne will need to take x-rays of your face and jaw. We use advanced digital x-ray machines to make this process fast, and to minimize radiation exposure and ensure your safety during the process. With digital x-rays, Dr. Bob and Dr. Suzanne can quickly assess the position of your jaw and the alignment of your teeth to begin developing a preliminary treatment plan.
In addition to this, Dr. Bob and Dr. Suzanne will perform a comprehensive oral exam. He will look at the position of each of your teeth and how your bite fits together to look for signs of an overbite, underbite, crossbite, and other bite issues.
Depending on your case, Dr. Bob and Dr. Suzanne may also take photos and dental impressions of your teeth to gather more information about your oral health.
Setting A Treatment Plan
Discussing Your Orthodontics Options
In most cases, Dr. Bob and Dr. Suzanne will be able to begin discussing your options for treatment immediately after completing your initial consultation. Based on the results of your exam, he can help you decide what treatment may be right for you, including braces, Invisalign or other clear aligners, or even accelerated orthodontics.
Dr. Bob and Dr. Suzanne will discuss whether these treatments are right for you, and provide you with his recommendation on the best orthodontic treatment plan for your purposes. You can choose to get started right away, or go home with some information about your treatment and make a decision at a later date.
Budgeting For Treatment
Payment & Insurance
If you do decide to proceed and get orthodontic treatment from Dr. Bob and Dr. Suzanne and the team at Kingstowne Dental Specialists, you will need to discuss your payment options and insurance coverage with our team.
In some cases, orthodontic treatment may be covered partially by your dental plan. To see what coverage is available to you, we highly recommend consulting directly with your insurer. However, if your treatment is purely for cosmetic reasons, it may not be covered.
Regardless of your insurance coverage, you will likely have to pay some out-of-pocket costs. You do not need to pay the full cost of treatment at once, however. At Kingstowne Dental Specialists, we offer payment plans and flexible financing to help you get the orthodontic treatment you need without breaking the bank.
